Project Summary
The Dublin Outer Ring Road provides a new dual carriageway regional distributor linking the N7 National Primary Route at Kingswood to Adamstown Roundabout. The scheme improves access to Adamstown, Grange Castle Business Park and surrounding residential and industrial areas, while also strengthening connections between Lucan, Clondalkin and Tallaght.
Project Description
The project comprised the construction of approximately 4.7km of dual carriageway with associated accommodation roads and interchange ramps. The scheme included five roundabouts and a grade-separated interchange with the N7 at Kingswood, along with bridge crossings of the Grand Canal and the Kildare Railway Line. Drainage works included culverts, such as a culvert crossing of the River Cammock.
The corridor extends from Adamstown Roundabout south to the N7 at Kingswood, crossing the Cork–Dublin Railway Line, Lynches Lane, the Grand Canal, Nangor Road and the River Cammock.
Scope of Works
The works included:
- Construction of approximately 4.7km of dual carriageway including embankments and paving.
- Construction of five at-grade roundabouts (Baldonnell, Nangor Road, Grange Castle, Clonburris Little and Adamstown).
- Construction of a grade-separated interchange at the N7 Kingswood junction.
Bridge over the Grand Canal. - Bridge over the Kildare Railway Line.
- Culvert crossing of the River Cammock.
- Road marking and traffic signs.
Technical Highlights
- Three major bridge structures: N7 Interchange Bridge, Cork Railway Line Bridge and Grand Canal Bridge.
- Complex road corridor crossing multiple existing transport routes and watercourses.
- Integration of culvert crossings to manage drainage and maintain river flow.
