Project Summary
Coffey was awarded a Contract to develop a Greenfield site at Project Bond Wexford. The works involved preparing the site and installing infrastructure to bring it from ‘Greenfield’ status to the underside of the building floor slab and surrounding process and equipment areas.
Project Description
The project included site clearance, earthworks, construction of temporary and permanent services, installation of security fencing, and the construction of ponds. Additional works were undertaken to finalise the site, including kerbing, headwalls, and permanent fencing.
Scope of Works
The works included:
- Topsoil strip to 40-acre site.
- Erection of 1,500m of 2.4m high temporary chainlink security fencing.
- Filling of over 120,000 tonnes of 6F Capping and Clause 804 for the main building footprint, hardstandings, roadways, laydown areas, temporary contractor’s compound, and carpark.
- Demolition of existing IDA roadway (~750m) including removal of ducting runs, storm and foul sewers, roadway, kerbing, and alteration of potable water main.
- Installation of services to contractor’s compound and carpark: potable water, sewer system, general ducting, carpark for 600 personnel, access footpaths, foundations for modular cabins, and pedestrian fencing.
- Installation of permanent plant services: HDPE potable water main, ductile iron fire main, concrete/HDPE storm sewers, HDPE foul sewers, general ducting, and ESB ducting.
- Construction of stormwater retention and firewater retention ponds.
- Temporary steel frame and cladding building in contractor’s compound.
- Additional works: HDPE liner for firewater pond, concrete headwalls, footpaths, flow control and monitoring chambers, 1,200m of 3m high permanent security fencing, and precast/in-situ concrete kerbing to plant roadways.
