Project Summary

The contract involved the design and construction of the civil’s element of a cryptosporidium barrier project including all the concrete structures and new buildings. The Complete design and construction of the following work elements

 

Concrete:

The Construction of a reinforced concrete basement 40mx 15m x 5m deep (approx 750m3) with Insitu concrete cells for the new membrane plant.

The new building was construction of galvanised steel framed with an approximate weight of 36 tons. The building was clad in a brick and blockwork with a approximate area of 350m2. A section of the wall and roof was clad in composite sheet cladding with an area of 440m2Also included in the steelwork package were all the platforms, steel security doors and associated stairs. Mezzanine flooring with open mesh and chequer plate flooring was installed. The construction of concrete plinths for new M&E equipment

Refurbishment:

Refurbishment to the existing buildings around the facility was also carried out this involved structural alterations. Demolition works, blockwork, painting and plastering. Refurbishment to existing tanks around the facility and the outlet weir for the facility. The refurbishment to the existing boreholes around the facility including the installation of megaflow meters on the existing boreholes and the associated pipe work and ducting work.

Utilities:

All External ductile iron and PVC pipework around the site, including several tie ins. The diversion and re routing of the existing water mains into the new plant and around the site including ties in with the existing mains and trenching and ducting for HV and LV cabling

Ground Work:

New concrete access road and associated drainage, new car parking and materials delivery facilities were constructed and all aspects of hard and soft landscaping was carried out around the site.
