We are proud to announce that Declan Murphy, Contracts Manager at Coffey, has been awarded Construction Project Manager – Up to €15M at the 2025 Irish Construction Excellence (ICE) Awards, held last Thursday at the Convention Centre in Dublin.

This prestigious recognition highlights Declan’s outstanding leadership on the Terryland Water Treatment Plant Intake Works in Galway – a technically demanding project delivered on behalf of Uisce Éireann in partnership with Galway County Council and Galway City Council. The scheme involved the construction of a new intake structure on the River Corrib to improve the security and capacity of Galway City’s water supply, which currently serves around 80,000 residents.
Delivering this high-profile project in a live operational environment required strong communication, meticulous planning, and practical, solutions-driven leadership. Declan’s ability to navigate complex technical requirements whilst maintaining a focus on safety, quality, and stakeholder engagement was a key factor in the project’s success and ultimately, in this well-deserved recognition.
“This recognition reflects the hard work and collaboration of the full team behind the Terryland Water Intake Works project. It was a complex and high-profile scheme, and I’m proud of how we delivered it — with steady leadership, clear communication, and a consistent focus on safety, quality, and stakeholder engagement.”
