Improving Everyday Travel in Ballybane and Castlepark

Transport upgrades are taking shape across Ballybane Road and Castlepark Road, as part of Galway City Council’s Active Travel programme.

Coffey is delivering targeted improvements that make it safer and easier for people to move through these East Galway communities. Students heading to Atlantic Technological University, local families, commuters and residents are gaining better access to sustainable transport options.

Backed by the National Transport Authority and the Urban Regeneration and Development Fund, the project includes:

  • Segregated walking and cycling routes
  • Upgraded bus stops and pedestrian crossings
  • Improved junction layouts
  • Full road resurfacing and new landscaping

These changes are already helping to strengthen connections and improve safety for those who use these routes every day.
