Project Milestone: Pendinas Distribution Service Reservoir (DSR)

Coffey is pleased to share the latest progress on the Pendinas Distribution Service Reservoir (DSR), a major investment in local water infrastructure located in Coed Llandegla Forest, Ruthin Road (LL11 3AA). Once complete, the new twin-cell reservoir will provide 2 million litres of storage capacity, strengthening supply resilience for the surrounding communities.

The design includes a valve house chamber, underfloor drainage, and a water quality sampling facility, ensuring the scheme not only delivers capacity but also upholds the highest standards of safety and water quality.

On-site Progress

In recent weeks, the team has completed several critical phases:

  • Installation of under-tank and perimeter drainage
  • Completion of blinding works
  • Base reinforcement and shuttering installed
  • A successful 291m³ DSR base concrete pour

The base pour itself was a significant milestone. Carried out over a continuous 16-hour shift, the pour was delivered in a challenging location, with narrow access routes, changeable weather, and the need to coordinate with multiple stakeholders. Thanks to careful planning and teamwork, the operation was executed safely and efficiently.

Partnership in Delivery

This achievement would not have been possible without strong collaboration across our supply chain. Coffey extends thanks to our delivery partners for their support:

  • TCL Structures (UK) Limited
  • Breedon Group plc
  • Larmine Construction

Together, we overcame the site’s logistical challenges and kept the project moving forward on programme.

Looking Ahead

Work now turns to casting the reservoir walls and completing surface water drainage across the site. Each stage brings us closer to handing over vital water infrastructure that will help secure a reliable supply for local communities long into the future.

At Coffey, we are committed to enhancing communities through engineering excellence. The Pendinas DSR is a clear example of how our teams deliver practical, resilient solutions in partnership with clients and stakeholders across the UK and Ireland.
