Project Update: Delgany to Blacklion (Chapel Road) Improvement Scheme

Coffey is working with Wicklow County Council and DBFL Consulting Engineers Ltd on pedestrian and cycle enhancements along Chapel Road, aiming to improve local safety and connectivity.

𝐊𝐞𝐲 𝐖𝐨𝐫𝐤𝐬 𝐈𝐧𝐜𝐥𝐮𝐝𝐞:

• New footpaths and cycle tracks
• Drainage and sewerage installation
• Earthworks and paving
• Accommodation works (walls, fencing)
• Signage, markings, and public lighting
• Utility diversions



𝐂𝐮𝐫𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐅𝐨𝐜𝐮𝐬 (𝐒𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 1 – 𝐂𝐨𝐧𝐯𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐑𝐝 𝐑𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐝𝐚𝐛𝐨𝐮𝐭 𝐭𝐨 𝐂𝐡𝐚𝐩𝐞𝐥 𝐑𝐝): 

Activities underway include accommodation works for residents, bulk excavation, and reinforced concrete (RC) wall construction, alongside drainage and utility preparations.

𝐁𝐞𝐧𝐞𝐟𝐢𝐭𝐬 𝐭𝐨 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐋𝐨𝐜𝐚𝐥 𝐂𝐨𝐦𝐦𝐮𝐧𝐢𝐭𝐲:

This improvement scheme supports safer walking and cycling routes for residents, schoolchildren, and commuters. It will help reduce traffic-related risks, encourage active travel, and contribute to a more connected and accessible local environment.

The project commenced in early March, with completion anticipated in early Q2 2026.

Phased construction is in progress.

This scheme represents a significant step in upgrading local infrastructure and accessibility.
