Ringaskiddy Urban Realm & Active Travel Scheme Completed

Coffey is proud to announce the successful completion of the Ringaskiddy Urban Realm & Active Travel Scheme in County Cork, a project delivered in partnership with Cork County Council. This significant scheme represents a major step forward in enhancing safety, access, and connectivity for the local community.

A People-First Approach to Infrastructure

A key feature of the project is the new shared pedestrian and cycle path that runs along the N28 through Ringaskiddy village. This new route now provides a safe, sustainable link from the Port Entrance to Gobby Beach, encouraging active and eco-friendly travel. The scheme’s design reflects Coffey’s core values, focusing on creating infrastructure that puts people first and benefits the community for years to come.

The project highlights demonstrate the scale and detail of the work:

  • 961 metres of drainage pipework and 2,264 metres of service ducts installed.
  • 14,606 m² of surface course and 11,704 metres of kerbing laid.
  • 5,213 m² of shared cycle track constructed.
  • New traffic signs, road markings, public lighting, and landscaping were added to improve the overall environment.

Our Values in Action

The Ringaskiddy project was a testament to Coffey’s commitment to our values at every stage of the delivery:

  • Do the Right Thing: We prioritised community safety, enhanced access, and ensured the project would deliver long-term benefits for the people of Ringaskiddy.
  • Do It Better: We applied engineering excellence and care to every detail of the construction process, ensuring a high-quality finish.
  • Do It Together: Our collaboration with Cork County Council and other project partners was essential to delivering a scheme that truly matters to the local community.
