Supporting Growth in Maynooth through Strategic Infrastructure Delivery

Coffey is delivering two key infrastructure projects on behalf of Uisce Éireann that will support the future growth and development of Maynooth.

On Friday, 13 June 2025, an official photocall took place to mark the commencement of two significant projects for the community of Maynooth.

Members of the Coffey and Uisce Eireann project team’s were joined in Maynooth by Leas Cathaoirleach of Clane Maynooth Municipal District, Councillor Donna Phelan, Director of Services for Climate, Community, Environment and Water with Kildare County Council, Marian Higgins, local Council members, and TDs for Kildare North to mark the planned commencement of both projects this summer.



Together, the Maynooth Water Network Upgrade and the Maynooth Transfer Pipeline Project represent a €26 million investment in critical water and wastewater infrastructure by Uisce Éireann. These works are being delivered by Coffey under Uisce Éireann’s Growth and Development Programme and will provide capacity for up to 13,000 new homes as part of the Government’s Housing for All initiative.

𝐌𝐚𝐲𝐧𝐨𝐨𝐭𝐡 𝐖𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐫 𝐍𝐞𝐭𝐰𝐨𝐫𝐤 𝐔𝐩𝐠𝐫𝐚𝐝𝐞
Coffey is installing over 1.1km of new 355mm HDPE water mains, including sections along the R157 and Dunboyne Road. These works include new pressure-reducing valves (PRVs) and flowmeters to enhance supply control and reliability. All pipework is being installed using open-cut trenching methods.

𝐌𝐚𝐲𝐧𝐨𝐨𝐭𝐡 𝐓𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐬𝐟𝐞𝐫 𝐏𝐢𝐩𝐞𝐥𝐢𝐧𝐞 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐣𝐞𝐜𝐭
This project involves the design, build, testing and commissioning of 9km of DN600 wastewater transfer pipeline between Maynooth and the Leixlip Wastewater Treatment Plant. The scope includes trenchless river crossings, road reinstatement, and a full upgrade of the Maynooth Pumping Station with new pumps, a modified wet well, and a new MV substation. A five-month operations and maintenance period will follow project completion.
