Project Update: Trimpley to Hampton Loade Resilience Pipeline

Coffey is pleased to share the latest progress on the Trimpley to Hampton Loade Pipeline, a critical project aimed at improving water resilience for over 65,000 customers supplied by Trimpley Water Treatment Works (WTW).

With full connectivity now in place, our teams are focused on final works to complete this complex 11.5km, 500mm diameter, single-directional pipeline linking Hampton Loade WTW to Trimpley Top Storage Reservoir (SR).

This project supports Severn Trent’s AMP7 commitment to deliver on the 9% second-source resilience target. Once in service, the pipeline will allow for an average daily flow of 20 million litres (ML/d)—helping ensure a continuous water supply in case of an outage at Trimpley WTW.

Key Project Milestones:

  • Completed the final 3.21km section of pipework, including two major Horizontal Directional Drills (HDD)—660m and 400m—beneath Coal Authority land and Ancient Natural Woodland
  • Installed six 630mm (OD) SDR9 HDD sections, totaling 1,960m
  • Completed pressure testing along the full 11.4km pipeline
  • Carried out field reinstatement across the entire 11km working corridor
  • Installed new run-to-waste pipework within the reservoir footprint
  • Completed cross-connection within the rural pumphouse to enable flow transfers

Well done to all involved in moving this important project forward.
