Significant progress continues at Mayfield STW for Severn Trent Water, with several key milestones achieved across the site in recent weeks. The project includes upgrades to increase treatment performance and flow capacity, including a new biofilter recirculation pumping station, EICA improvements and a new MCC installation.
- Installation of the new recirculation pumping station is now complete.
- Sitewide ducting installation has been completed.
- The new MCC has been delivered and first-fix installation works are complete.
- The temporary SAF unit has been successfully relocated to facilitate construction of the new storm tank.
- The storm tank base has been installed and is ready to receive the tank in early September.
- Electrical installation works continue across the site.
Over the coming weeks, the team will focus on final installations and commissioning activities, with the new treatment assets expected to be fully operational by the end of the month.
The scope of the project has grown significantly since construction commenced. In addition to the original upgrade works, Coffey has been engaged to deliver the relocation of the temporary SAF unit, installation of a new storm tank, provision of a washwater booster system and, most recently, a standby generator installation.
The SAF relocation and storm tank elements are expected to be completed by the end of the month, while the washwater booster system and backup generator works will continue into next year, with overall project completion now anticipated in early 2027.
