Coffey Awarded Stage 1 Contract for Staleen WTP Trunk Mains Project

Coffey has been awarded the Stage 1 contract for the Staleen Water Treatment Plant Trunk Mains project, a key infrastructure scheme that will support the continued delivery of safe and reliable drinking water across East Meath and South Louth.

The Staleen Water Treatment Plant, which sources water from the River Boyne, currently supplies approximately 70,000 people. As demand continues to grow, investment in critical infrastructure is essential to ensure long term resilience and reliability across the regional network.

Delivered on behalf of Uisce Éireann, the Staleen WTP Trunk Mains project will enhance how treated water is transferred from the plant to key storage and distribution points. By strengthening pipeline capacity and reducing reliance on single supply routes, the project will play an important role in improving network resilience and supporting future demand.

Stage 1 of the project focuses on essential preparatory works that will inform the next phase of delivery. During this stage, Coffey will carry out comprehensive site investigations, alongside ecological and archaeological surveys, to ensure the project is developed with full consideration of environmental and heritage factors.

In parallel, Coffey will progress the detailed design of two strategic pipeline routes. These will connect Staleen Water Treatment Plant to Donore Reservoir, and to the Duleek to Navan trunk watermain, forming a more robust and flexible distribution network.

This project reflects Coffey’s continued commitment to enhancing communities through engineering excellence . By delivering critical water infrastructure, Coffey is helping to ensure secure, sustainable water services that support regional growth and development.

Coffey looks forward to continuing collaboration with project partners as the scheme progresses and contributes to strengthening Ireland’s essential water infrastructure.
