Safety is about more than following procedures. It’s about looking out for one another, recognising risks and making the right choices every day.
As part of the Construction Industry Federation (CIF) Construction Safety Campaign 2026, our team and project partners at Quarry Lane in Sligo welcomed John Gaughan from The Frontline Mind for an insightful session on workplace safety and wellbeing.

Drawing on almost 18 years of experience as a frontline paramedic, John shared powerful insights into the lasting impact workplace incidents can have, not only on those directly involved, but also on their families, colleagues and wider communities.
The session encouraged everyone to reflect on the pressures people may face, the importance of supporting one another and the dangers of becoming too comfortable with unsafe practices.

One message stood out:
“Just because something has become normal doesn’t necessarily mean it’s right, or that it’s safe.”
This message captures the importance of this year’s Back to Basics theme. A safer workplace starts with awareness, open communication and a shared responsibility to challenge unsafe behaviours.
A sincere thank you to John for sharing his experiences and reminding us that safety is more than a policy. It’s personal.
