Coffey Appoints Stuart Smith as Chief Financial Officer to Support Continued Growth

Coffey is pleased to announce the appointment of Stuart Smith as Chief Financial Officer. This key leadership addition supports the company’s long-term growth strategy and ambition to deliver complex, high-impact infrastructure projects across Ireland and the UK.

As Coffey continues to scale its operations across the water, energy, and civil infrastructure sectors, strong financial leadership is essential to ensuring the business remains resilient, well-governed, and future-ready. Stuart’s appointment reflects Coffey’s commitment to building the structures, systems, and leadership capability required to support sustainable growth and consistent project delivery.

Stuart brings more than 15 years of senior finance experience across both industry and professional practice. He has held leadership roles with Linesight, Kerry Group, Applegreen, and EY, supporting organisations operating in fast-paced, growth-focused environments. His experience spans strategic financial planning, governance, operational performance, and investment decision-making, all of which will be critical as Coffey continues to expand its operations and capabilities.

Based in Tipperary, Stuart has spent the majority of his career working in the Irish market, following earlier professional experience in the UK. This combination of local insight and international perspective will be particularly valuable as Coffey continues to deliver projects across multiple jurisdictions and strengthen its presence in both Ireland and the UK.

In his role as Chief Financial Officer, Stuart will oversee Finance, HR, IT, Plant and Property functions. These areas are central to Coffey’s ability to deliver safely, efficiently, and at scale. By aligning financial strategy with people development, digital capability, and asset management, Stuart will help ensure the organisation is structured to support growth while maintaining strong governance and operational excellence.

Odran Madden, CEO of Coffey, welcomed the appointment and highlighted its strategic importance.

“Stuart’s appointment is an important step in strengthening our leadership team as Coffey continues to grow,” said Odran. “He brings a strong combination of strategic financial expertise and practical experience in supporting high-growth organisations. This will be critical as we continue to invest in our people, our capability, and the systems required to deliver complex infrastructure projects for our clients.”

As a member of Coffey’s Senior Leadership Team, Stuart will play a key role in shaping strategic decision-making and guiding the business through its next phase of development. His collaborative approach and experience working within multidisciplinary organisations align closely with Coffey’s values of integrity, teamwork and continuous improvement.

Commenting on his appointment, Stuart Smith said he was excited to join Coffey at a pivotal stage in its journey.

“Coffey has a strong reputation for engineering excellence and a clear ambition for the future,” said Stuart. “I am looking forward to working with the leadership team to support the company’s growth strategy, strengthen its financial and operational foundations and help ensure the business is well positioned for the opportunities ahead.”

This appointment represents another important step in building a future-ready organisation that clients trust, people choose, and communities rely on. Coffey is delighted to welcome Stuart Smith to the team and looks forward to the contribution he will make as the company continues to enhance communities through engineering excellence.
